Itinerary

INDEPENDENT TOURING DAYS 1-3

Day 1 Sat: Arrive Sydney – Indian Pacific

On arrival in Sydney you will be transferred to Central Station and board the Indian Pacific train.

Accommodation: Gold Kangaroo Service, Indian Pacific, 3 nights. (D)

Day 2 Sun: Indian Pacific

Travel via Broken Hill to Adelaide today. There is the opportunity to join an optional sightseeing tour in Adelaide, before the Indian Pacific departs early evening and begins the journey west to Perth. (BLD)

Day 3 Mon: Indian Pacific

Today you cross the vast Nullarbor Plain, where the train travels the world's longest straight stretch of railway track. See unique landscapes unfold and spot a fascinating array of wildlife from the comfort of the lounge or your cabin. (BLD)

Day 4 Tue: Indian Pacific - Perth

On arrival in Perth you will be transferred from the Station to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy an orientation tour of Perth including beautiful Kings Park. Enjoy a welcome drink this evening.

Day 5 Wed: The Pinnacles

Travel to Yanchep National Park, where you will enjoy an Aboriginal cultural experience. Meet Aboriginal guides who will treat you to the enchanting sounds of the didjeridu. Continue north to Nambung National Park and view the mystical Pinnacles.

Day 6 Thu: Kalbarri National Park

Visit Kalbarri National Park and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Murchison River Gorge from Hawks Head Lookout. Travel to Hamelin Pool to see the world's best known colony of Stromatolites, then visit spectacular Shell Beach. This afternoon continue to Monkey Mia.

Day 7 Fri: Monkey Mia

Early this morning watch for the famous dolphins that swim into shore. Interacting with these magnificent animals is a truly unforgettable experience. (Note: As dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed). The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 8 Sat: Ningaloo Reef

Head north to Carnarvon where bananas and tropical fruits are grown. Travel to Coral Bay and join a sub-sea viewer and cruise over the spectacular Ningaloo Reef.

Day 9 Sun: The Pilbara

This morning visit Giralia Station, an area of outstanding diodiversity. Travel inland to the mineral rich Pilbara region.

Day 10 Mon: Karijini National Park

Journey into Karijini National Park. See spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools. Continue to Newman this afternoon.

Day 11 Tue: Mount Whaleback Mine

Join a guided tour of the Mount Whaleback Mine, the world's largest single open cut iron ore mine. We then travel via Marble Bar to Port Hedland, a major shipping port.

Day 12 Wed: 80 Mile Beach

Travel parallel to 80 Mile Beach and the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, before arriving in idyllic Broome.

Day 13 Thu: Broome at leisure

Enjoy a day at leisure in Broome. (B)

Day 14 Fri: Derby – Fitzroy Crossing

Travel to the port of Derby and see the famous Boab Prison Tree, before arriving in the township of Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 15 Sat: Geikie Gorge

This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Travel to historic Halls Creek this afternoon.

Day 16 Sun: Argyle Diamond Mine

Visit the Argyle Diamond Mine, the largest diamond mine in the world, producing one third of the world's diamonds annually. Travel to the outback cattle station of El Questro.

Day 17 Mon: El Questro

This morning cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole abounded by tropical vegetation. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time to hike into Emma Gorge. (B)

Day 18 Tue: Wyndham

This morning travel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues. Continue to Kununurra.

Day 19 Wed: Kununurra

Today we see the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, visit Hidden Valley National Park and Kelly's Knob Lookout. (B)

Day 20 Thu: Ord River

Cruise the placid waters of the Ord River from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. Visit the Durack Homestead, before continuing to Katherine.

Day 21 Fri: Katherine Gorge

Cruise through magical Katherine Gorge this morning. Travel to Darwin, stopping at the Adelaide River War Cemetery en route. Enjoy an orientation tour of Darwin.

Day 22 Sat: Depart Darwin

You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight. (B)
