Itinerary

Day 1 Tue: Arrive Perth

On arrival in Perth you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy an orientation tour of Perth including beautiful Kings Park. Enjoy a welcome drink this evening with your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

Accommodation: Mercure Hotel, Perth.

Day 2 Wed: The Pinnacles

Travel to Yanchep National Park, where you will enjoy an Aboriginal cultural experience. Meet Aboriginal guides who will treat you to the enchanting sounds of the didjeridu. Visit Nambung National Park to view the mystical Pinnacles, formed by calcified limestone thousands of years ago.

Day 3 Thu: Kalbarri National Park - Monkey Mia

Visit Kalbarri National Park and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Murchison River Gorge from Hawks Head Lookout. Travel to Hamelin Pool to see the world's best known colony of Stromatolites, then visit spectacular Shell Beach, formed by billions of tiny white seashells. Continue to Monkey Mia this afternoon.

Day 4 Fri: Monkey Mia

Early this morning watch for the famous dolphins that swim into shore. Interacting with these magnificent animals is a truly unforgettable experience. (Note: As dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed). Perhaps take an optional sailing cruise this afternoon. (B)

Day 5 Sat: Ningaloo Reef

Head north to Carnarvon, travel to Coral Bay and join a sub-sea viewer and cruise over the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia's largest coral reef.

Day 6 Sun: The Pilbara

This morning visit Giralia Station, a birdwatcher's paradise. Travel inland to the mineral rich Pilbara region.

Day 7 Mon: Karijini National Park

Journey into Karijini National Park. The startling landscape of spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools, created by millions of years of erosion, provides a striking contrast to the stark red of the Pilbara landscape. Continue to Newman.

Day 8 Tue: Mount Whaleback Mine

Join a guided tour of the Mount Whaleback Mine, the world's largest single open cut iron ore mine. Here, you will be amazed by the massive pit and see the huge machinery in operation. We then travel via Marble Bar to Port Hedland, a major shipping port.

Day 9 Wed: 80 Mile Beach

Travel parallel to 80 Mile Beach and the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, before arriving in idyllic Broome. See Chinatown and Stretters Jetty where pearling luggers unload their fresh catch of oysters.

Day 10 Thu: Broome at leisure

Enjoy a day at leisure exploring this tropical hideaway. Directly opposite the hotel is Cable Beach, 22km of white sand and clear tropical water. Perhaps take an optional camel ride along Cable Beach. (B)

Day 11 Fri: Derby – Fitzroy Crossing

Travel to the port of Derby and see the famous Boab Prison Tree, before arriving in the township of Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 12 Sat: Geikie Gorge

This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Look out for crocodiles and sawfish. Travel to historic Halls Creek this afternoon.

Day 13 Sun: Argyle Diamond Mine

Visit the Argyle Diamond Mine, the largest diamond mine in the world, producing one third of the world's diamonds annually. Travel to the outback cattle station of El Questro.

Day 14 Mon: El Questro

This morning cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole abounded by tropical vegetation. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time to hike into Emma Gorge. (B)

Day 15 Tue: Wyndham

This morning travel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. Your Aboriginal hosts will welcome you to the region in a traditional ceremony. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural.

Day 16 Wed: Kununurra

Today we see the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, visit Hidden Valley National Park and Kelly's Knob Lookout. (B)

Day 17 Thu: Ord River

Cruise the placid waters of the Ord River from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. Visit the Durack Homestead. Continue to Katherine.

Day 18 Fri: Katherine Gorge

Cruise through magical Katherine Gorge this morning. Travel to Darwin, stopping at Adelaide River War Cemetery en route. Enjoy an orientation tour of Darwin.

Day 19 Sat: Depart Darwin

You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward. (B)
