Itinerary

Day 1 Tue: Arrive Darwin

On arrival in Darwin you will be transferred to your hotel. This afternoon join a tour of the city. Enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions.

Accommodation: Darwin Central Hotel.

Day 2 Wed: Katherine Gorge

Head south towards Katherine. Stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery. This afternoon enjoy a cruise through spectacular Katherine Gorge.

Day 3 Thu: Ord River Cruise

This morning visit the historic Durack Homestead, then travel to Lake Argyle, Australia's largest man-made lake. Cruise on the Ord River to Kununurra.

Day 4 Fri: Kununurra

See the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, Hidden Valley National Park and visit Kelly's Knob Lookout. (B)

Day 5 Sat: Wyndham – 5 Rivers Lookout

This morning travel to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. Your Aboriginal hosts will welcome you to the region in a traditional ceremony. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art. This afternoon travel to the outback station of El Questro.

Day 6 Sun: El Questro

Cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, abounded by tropical vegetation. At Emma Gorge Resort there is time to sit by the pool or to hike into Emma Gorge for a refreshing swim. (B)

Day 7 Mon: Argyle Diamond Mine

Today visit the Argyle Diamond Mine for a guided tour of the world's largest diamond mine. Continue to Halls Creek.

Day 8 Tue: Geikie Gorge

Travel to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. This afternoon enjoy a cruise through spectacular Geikie Gorge.

Day 9 Wed: Derby – Broome

Travel to the port of Derby and see the famous Boab Prison Tree, before continuing to the tropical resort town of Broome. See Chinatown and Stretters Jetty.

Day 10 Thu: Broome at leisure

Enjoy a day at leisure in tropical Broome. Directly opposite the hotel is Cable Beach. (B)

Day 11 Fri: Port Hedland

Skirt the edge of the Great Sandy Desert to Port Hedland, a major shipping outlet for the mineral rich Pilbara region.

Day 12 Sat: Newman

Today we leave Port Hedland and travel via Marble Bar to the town of Newman.

Day 13 Sun: Karijini National Park

We will enjoy a morning guided tour of the Mount Whaleback Mine, the world's largest single open cut iron ore mine. Journey into Karijini National Park where spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools provide a contrast to the red Pilbara landscape. Continue to Tom Price this afternoon.

Day 14 Mon: North West Cape

Today visit Giralia Station, an area of outstanding biodiversity with many different species of flora and fauna, some which are unique to the station. Travel to Exmouth, situated on the boundary of Cape Range National Park and the Ningaloo Marine Park.

Day 15 Tue: Ningaloo Reef

Travel to Coral Bay, a quaint seaside town and join a sub-sea viewer over the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia's largest coral reef. Observe the abundance of marine life that inhabit these tropical waters and marvel at the brilliant display of colourful coral formations. Continue to Monkey Mia.

Day 16 Wed: Monkey Mia

Walk to the beach this morning where dolphins come into shore. These wild mammals of the ocean swim into the shallows to mingle with people. (Note: As dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed.) (B)

Day 17 Thu: Kalbarri

This morning visit Hamelin Pool to see the world's best known colony of Stromatolites. Stop at spectacular Shell Beach, formed from billions of shells up to ten metres deep. Later, visit Kalbarri National Park.

Day 18 Fri: The Pinnacles

In Nambung National Park view the spectacular, mystical Pinnacles. Continue to Yanchep National Park where you will enjoy an Aboriginal cultural experience. Meet Aboriginal guides who will share with you their way of life in a traditional community. Continue to Perth.

Day 19 Sat: Depart Perth

After breakfast enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Perth. You will be transferred to Perth Airport to connect with your onward flight. (B)
