white sand and clear tropical water. There are a number of options available and your Tour

flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago or ride a camel at sunset on the beach. Stroll
through Chinatown, home to some of the world's finest pearl showrooms. (B)
Day 3 Fri: Port Hedland
Journey parallel to 80 Mile Beach and skirt the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, a
desolate land of spinifex and sand hills. Arrive in Port Hedland, gateway to the Pilbara.
The port is a major shipping outlet for this mineral rich region.
Accommodation: Mercure Inn, Port Hedland. (B)
Day 4 Sat: Newman
Today we leave Port Hedland and travel via Marble Bar to the town of Newman.

Day 5 Sun: Karijini National Park
We will enjoy a morning guided tour of the Mount Whaleback Mine, the world's largest
single open cut iron ore mine. Here, you will be amazed by the enormity of the massive pit
and see the huge machinery in operation. Journey into Karijini National Park. The
startling landscape of spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools, created by millions
of years of erosion, provides a striking contrast to the stark red landscape of the
Pilbara. Continue to the isolated town of Tom Price this afternoon.
Accommodation: Karijini Lodge, Tom Price. (BL)
Day 6 Mon: North West Cape

Journey down the coast, admiring the fantastic coastal scenery of white sand and
sparkling blue ocean. Travel to Coral Bay, a quaint seaside town, where you join a sub-sea
viewer and cruise over the Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia's largest coral reef. Observe
the abundance of marinelife that inhabits these tropical waters and marvel at the
brilliant display of colourful coral formations. Continue to Carnarvon, where tropical
fruits are grown, then on to Monkey Mia.
Accommodation: Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, 2 nights. (B)
Day 8 Wed: Monkey Mia
Spend time on the beach this morning at the Monkey Mia Reserve, nestled against the
pristine waters of the Shark Bay Marine Park, where dolphins come into shore. These wild
mammals of the ocean swim into the shallows to mingle with people. Feel the magic of
interacting with these magnificent creatures, a truly unforgettable experience. (Note: As
dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed.) The remainder of the day is at
leisure. Why not spend some time at the Monkey Mia Visitor Centre which contains
informative, interactive displays. At the Amphitheatre the rangers conduct talks and slide
shows. Ask your Tour Director for details on optional scenic flights and sailing cruises
to see dugong and dolphins. (B)
Day 9 Thu: Kalbarri Geraldton
This morning visit Hamelin Pool to see a colony of ancient Stromatolites, the world's
oldest display of living fossils. Visit Shell Beach, consisting of millions of shells, up
to 10 metres deep. Travel through Kalbarri National Park visiting Hawks Head Lookout for
marvellous bird's eye views of the Murchinson River Gorge. Also visit Red Bluff Lookout,
where layers of sandstone form cliffs which loom over the Indian Ocean. Enjoy a tour of
Geraldton, located on the Batavia Coast, renowned for its many shipwrecks.
