Highlights Ord River Cruise Purnululu
National Park
Day 1: Arrive Kununurra
Clients arriving by air will be transferred to the hotel. Today is at leisure to
explore the frontier town of Kununurra, the hub of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. Accommodation:
Country Club Hotel, Kununurra, 3 nights.
Day 2: Kununurra Lake Argyle Ord River
This morning you will be picked up from your hotel to join a cruise on Lake Argyle.
Explore the rugged beauty of the northern end of Lake Argyle and learn about the history
and development of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. Later visit the historic Durack
Homestead. After lunch (own expense) you will cruise along the Ord River and through
magnificent Carlton Gorge. There is an opportunity to see crocodiles, flying foxes and
prolific bird life, before returning to Kununurra at approximately 5.30pm. Afternoon tea
is included.
Day 3: Purnululu National Park
Begin the morning with a spectacular scenic flight to Purnululu National Park, passing
over Lake Argyle and the Bungle Bungle Range. Transfer to a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle and
travel to Cathedral Gorge. Walk alongside Piccaninny Creek amongst the beehive domes of
the Bungle Bungle Range and enjoy a picnic lunch in the shaded gorge, before rejoining the
4 Wheel Drive for travel to Bellburn Camp. Reboard the aircraft, passing over the Argyle
Diamond Mine en route to Kununurra, arriving at approximately 5.00pm. (L)
Day 4: Depart Kununurra
There is free time this morning, before your transfer to Kununurra airport (flight
anytime, airfare not included). |
