In the evening meet your friendly camel and experience a true part of Central Australian history. Enjoy a 1 hour camel ride along the Todd River with the sun setting on the strikingly beautiful river red gums and the MacDonnell Ranges. On arrival at the Frontier Camel Farm visit the Camel Display and Camel Shop before enjoying pre-dinner drinks with samples of 'bush tucker'. HELICOPTER FLIGHTS – ULURU   CODE: SYH15/SYH30

Only from the air can you fully appreciate the grandeur of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. A 15 minute helicopter flight will fly you around Uluru, giving you the opportunity to see the awesome spectacle of this huge monolith from the air. A 30 minute flight will show you both Uluru and Kata Tjuta, the two most significant sights of the area. The views will provide you with the perfect opportunity to take spectacular aerial photographs. Commentary from your pilot is included throughout the flight. Return transfers to your hotel included. From the Frontier Camel depot begin your peaceful 1 hour camel ride over the big red sand dunes at sunrise or sunset. With the breeze in your face see spectacular Uluru from a legendary, late model Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Expert riders will take you on a quick spin (30 minutes) to the Uluru viewing point or you may prefer to cruise around Uluru (60 minutes). Highlights   • Bathurst Island • Tiwi and Aboriginal Culture Make your own way to Darwin General Aviation Airport to check in by 7.30am. After a 30 minute scenic flight (additional cost) you arrive at the Aboriginal community of Nguiu on Bathurst Island where you are met by your local guide. Visit the museum with its interesting displays of traditional art and depictions of the Tiwi 'dreamtime' stories and Early Mission Precinct with its unique Tiwi style Catholic Church. Hear about the early mission days and learn how the Tiwi people have blended their culture with Christianity. Be taken through the successful arts and crafts centres and see where the artists work. At morning tea we spend time with some Tiwi ladies enjoying billy tea and damper while they work on their weaving and painting. Your guides and the ladies also demonstrate their totem dances and perform a smoking ceremony to bless the visitors. Set out for a scenic drive through the wilderness of Bathurst Island. Enjoy lunch and visit a local waterhole for a swim (bring swimmers and towel). Visit a picturesque lookout, which is also the setting of a Tiwi burial site, and learn some of the complex rituals associated with the Pukamani Poles (burial poles). Learn about traditional bush tucker, bush medicine and natural fibres and dyes on your return to the community for your return flight to Darwin (additional cost). Highlights   • Bathurst Island • Tiwi and Aboriginal Culture Day 1: Darwin – Bathurst Island (Tiwi Islands) You will be transferred from your hotel to Darwin General Aviation Airport. After a scenic flight (additional cost) you arrive at the Aboriginal community of Nguiu on Bathurst Island. Here you are met by your Guide to be taken on a journey through the community of Nguiu. Visit the museum and learn about the Tiwi history and culture. Visit successful arts and crafts centres and see artists' work. Day 2: Bathurst Island – Darwin

After breakfast travel out to the westernmost point of Bathurst Island – Cape Fourcroy and explore the rugged coastline. Walk along the beach in search of turtle nests. Learn about traditional uses of the native flora and fauna with your Tiwi guide. Visit Tomorrupi Waterfall and enjoy a picnic lunch. Visit a Tiwi burial site and learn about some of the complex rituals associated with the Pukumani Poles (burial poles) before returning to Nguiu for your return flight to Darwin (additional cost).
