Day 1: Darwin

On arrival at the airport or railway station you will be transferred to your hotel (flight/train not included). The remainder of the day is free to explore Darwin. You might like to join an optional tour (own expense – refer to page 47 for details). Accommodation: Darwin Central Hotel, Darwin, 3 nights.

Day 2: Litchfield National Park

Travel south to Litchfield National Park. View Florence Falls and Tolmer Falls from a lookout positioned high above the falls. Continue to Wangi Falls, a natural waterhole where there is time to relax and swim. (L)

Day 3: Darwin

Morning at leisure. This afternoon join a tour of Darwin. See the Chinese Temple and the lush Botanical Gardens. Tour historic sites including East Point Military Precinct. See the Stokes Hall Wharf area and explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.

Day 4: Darwin – Kakadu

Join the famous Jumping Crocodile Cruise, where your local guide will entice crocodiles to leap from the water. Travel into Kakadu National Park. Visit the Bowali Visitors Centre. There is time for an optional scenic flight (own expense). Enjoy a guided walk to view ancient rock art and then to the top of Ubirr for magnificent views. Accommodation: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Jabiru. (L)

Day 5: Kakadu – Katherine

Take a guided walk at Nourlangie Rock – home of some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in the Kakadu region. Continue to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and view the informative displays before joining a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. This afternoon travel via Pine Creek to Katherine. Accommodation: Mercure Inn, Katherine. (L)

Day 6: Katherine – Darwin

Join a 2 hour cruise through Katherine Gorge and be amazed by the sheer rock walls. Inspect the National Park Information Centre. Continue to the beautiful setting of Edith Falls, where there is time for a swim (conditions permitting). Visit the Adelaide River War Cemetery before returning to Darwin. Accommodation: Darwin Central Hotel, Darwin, 2 nights.

Day 7: Territory Wildlife Park

This morning spend time at the multi-award winning Territory Wildlife Park. Discover some of the Northern Territory's most elusive animals in the Nocturnal House. Return to Darwin at approximately 12.30pm. Remainder of day is at leisure. You may like to join an optional tour (own expense).

Day 8: Depart Darwin

Leisurely morning before your transfer to the airport or the railway station (airfare and train fare not included in tour price).

Note: A reasonable level of mobility is required. During May access to Ubirr is not always possible. Alternative touring will be arranged.

Departs:   Wed & Sat (May – Oct) from Darwin (or earlier from your hotel)

Returns:   12.30pm approximately to Darwin

Note: Wednesday departures visit Litchfield on Day 3 (Darwin town tour on Day 2).
