Highlights Exclusive Overnight Access to the
Aboriginal Lands of Hawk Dreaming Small Group Camping Safari
Day 1: Darwin Mardugal
Travel from Darwin to Kakadu National Park via the old Jim Jim Road (dirt) stopping at
points of interest such as White Lily Billabong and the South Alligator River Crossing
before visiting Barramundi Gorge (Maguk). Take a walk to a freshwater pool at the base of
a small waterfall (opportunity for swimming). In the late afternoon join the famous Yellow
Waters wetlands cruise.Accommodation: Mardagul campground (LD)
Day 2: Jim Jim Gorge Hawk Dreaming
Depart early to visit the rugged beauty of Jim Jim Gorge. Walk up the gorge over
boulders and beneath towering escarpments to the plunge pool at the end of the gorge.
Later visit the Bowali Visitors Centre. Travel to Ubirr Rock and view ancient Aboriginal
art sites before climbing to the top for amazing views. After setting up camp at our
exclusive overnight site at Hawk Dreaming experience a sunset on the escarpment before
enjoying a campfire dinner. Accommodation: Hawk Dreaming Campsite (BLD)
Day 3: Hawk Dreaming Darwin
This morning explore the
Hawk Dreaming area and the remote and private homelands of the Bunidj Aboriginal people
with your guide. See secluded rock art and occupation sites and learn about the
traditional life of the Bunidj people. In the afternoon leave Kakadu via the Hardies
Lagoon Track and travel to Wildman Reserve. Stop at Cousins Lookout to view the
magnificent Mary River System, before returning to Darwin. (BL)
