Highlights Alice Springs Desert Park Valley of the Winds Mutitjulu Waterhole Kings CanyonDay 1: West MacDonnell Ranges Alice Springs Desert ParkThis morning travel along the West MacDonnell Ranges and visit Simpsons Gap with its river red gum scenery. Continue on to Angkerle (Standley Chasm) where morning tea is provided. Visit Ormiston Gorge and enjoy a picnic lunch (opportunity for swimming in hotter months). Stop at the Alice Springs Desert Park and see unique Australian desert wildlife including a 'Birds of Prey' show.Accommodation: Crowne Plaza (AY64S), Alice Springs Resort (AY64F), Aurora Alice Springs (AY64R) or Alice Springs Plaza Hotel (AY64L). (L) Day 2: Alice Springs Kata Tjuta (Olgas)Travel south from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Resort, stopping at a camel farm for an optional camel ride (own expense). This afternoon tour to Kata Tjuta and walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. The walking path is rocky and requires a good level of fitness. View a magnificent 'outback' sunset before travelling on to our exclusive BBQ venue to enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner and stargazing (weather permitting). Vegetarian meals are available upon request at time of booking.Accommodation: Ayers Rock Resort choice of accommodation, 2 nights. (D) Day 3: Uluru (Ayers Rock)This morning there is the option to do the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Base Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. The first option allows time for climbing, whilst the second option includes a longer guided walk at the base of Uluru. Time is available for those keen to take a scenic flight (own expense).This evening view sunset at Uluru whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine. Day 4: Kings CanyonAn early start to travel to Kings Canyon, stopping on the way at Kings Creek Station for breakfast (own expense). Commence the climb at Kings Canyon with your Guide to be rewarded with spectacular views of Watarrka National Park from the top of the canyon. Time permitting, you may choose to descend into the 'Garden of Eden'. The climb takes 3 hours and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may prefer to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor. Return this evening to Ayers Rock Resort. Note: During the hotter months, part of the Valley of the Winds walk and the Kings Canyon rim climb may not be available in hot weather conditions. Alternative itineraries on Day 2 and/or Day 4 may apply. |
