Day 1: Alice Springs

You will be transferred to your hotel on arrival at the airport or railway station (arrival by 1pm, flight/train not included). On your afternoon Alice Springs town tour visit the Telegraph Station, Royal Flying Doctor Service, School of the Air, the Alice Springs Reptile Centre and enjoy panoramic views from Anzac Hill. Accommodation: Crowne Plaza (AA45S), Alice Springs Resort (AA45F), Aurora Alice Springs (AA45R) or Alice Springs Plaza Hotel (AA45L), 3 nights.

Day 2: West MacDonnell Ranges – Alice Springs Desert Park

Travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Visit Simpsons Gap and Angkerle (Standley Chasm). Continue to Ormiston Gorge for swimming (conditions permitting) and a picnic lunch. Visit the Alice Springs Desert Park. (L)

Day 3: Palm Valley

Today travel by 4WD to the historical township of Hermannsburg. Continue along the Finke River into Palm Valley, a unique desert oasis. (L)

Day 4: Alice Springs – Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Travel south via a camel farm and Atila (Mt. Conner) to Ayers Rock Resort. In the afternoon visit Kata Tjuta before witnessing sunset at Uluru while enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine. Accommodation: Ayers Rock Resort – choice of accommodation.

On Day 4 there is the option to upgrade from the afternoon Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunset Tour (Y13) to the Kata Tjuta Valley of the Winds Walk, Sunset and Barbecue Dinner Tour (Y14), at an extra cost. See page 21 for itinerary details.

Day 5: Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Kings Canyon

This morning there is the option to do the Uluru Sunrise, Climb and Base Tour (Y18) or for the non-climbers, the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Base Walk (Y41). Both tours include a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. See page 19 for more itinerary details. Time at leisure before travelling to Kings Canyon Resort. Accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort – Spa Rooms (AA45S), Rangeview Rooms (AA45F & AA45R) or Kings Canyon Lodge (AA45L).

Day 6: Kings Canyon – Alice Springs

The rocky climb around the rim of the canyon takes 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness. Admire the spectacular views of Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor. Return to Alice Springs in the early evening. Accommodation: Crowne Plaza (AA45S), Alice Springs Resort (AA45F), Aurora Alice Springs (AA45R) or Alice Springs Plaza Hotel (AA45L).

Note: During the hotter months, the Kings Canyon rim climb may not be available in hot weather conditions. An alternative itinerary may apply.

Day 7: Aboriginal Cultural Experience

This morning spend time with a local Aboriginal guide as we travel to a site of significance to the Arrente people, on an Aboriginal Cultural Tour. See demonstrations of boomerang throwing and after morning tea learn about Aboriginal life, languages, art, dance and music. Touring concludes with a transfer to your hotel or to the airport. Flight (not included) to depart after 11.45am.
