· The vehicle driver(s) will need a valid, unrestricted car driver's licence. · If the drivers licence is not in English, by law, they must also carry an International Drivers Permit. Alternatively, an official translation of the licence is acceptable, although the operator recommends an International Drivers Permit to ensure compliance with local laws. It is a Police requirement that all drivers carry an English language drivers licence or if in another language, a certified translation or International Drivers Permit. · At the time of checking-out we require a recognised credit card authorisation from the driver, which will be held by the operator to the value of the maximum excess applicable to the level of excess cover chosen. This amount maybe from $220 up to $5,000, depending on the accident excess reduction. (For Accident Excess Reduction Options and pricing refer to the relevant section in this manual) The credit available on the drivers credit card must be at least to the applicable excess amount. The amount of the credit card authorisation is referred to as a bond and is held as security for the insurance excess and/or any other final charges that may be payable at the end of the rental (e.g. refueling fee if not returned full of diesel/petrol, excess kilometre charges if applicable, any parking or speeding fines and the like, insurance excesses if the vehicle is damaged, etc.) If unsure check at time of booking. · Campervans are only available for pick-up and return from the operator branches and only during the hours indicated in the branch location section in this manual. In the same section addresses for all branches are detailed. · When planning a holiday the distances in Australia and New Zealand can be long and difficult and sufficient time is required to enjoy their holiday and travel in safety. Weather and road conditions can also vary dramatically and extra time should be planned into the holiday to cater for the unexpected. As the booking agent please help your client research and plan the trip carefully particularly if venturing into remote areas which can be dangerous. · MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD: Our minimum rental period is 5 days. · RIGHT of REFUSAL: On rare occasions some drivers do attempt unreasonable travel distances within rental periods. We recommend an average of no more than 300 kilometres per day planned, subject to road conditions. If the operator assesses a driver plans to be too ambitious or dangerous in terms of the route selected or the distance too great to be covered in a safe time period we reserves the right to decline any rental. · ADDITIONAL DRIVERS: Extra d rivers can be included on the rental agreement, provided they present a current unrestricted drivers licence (including English translation if applicable) and comply with the operator terms and conditions. There is no extra charge for additional drivers. · AVAILABILITY: While we will do our best to provide the type of campervan or motorhome requested, occasionally circumstances beyond our control (e.g. the previous renter having an accident) can mean that we cannot supply the type of vehicle requested. In these cases, we reserve the right to upgrade the renter to another vehicle group (at no extra cost to the renter). · BREAKDOWNS within AUSTRALIA: In the unlikely event of a breakdown our campervans and motorhomes are covered by the operator ROADSIDE ASSIST, a 24 hour service operated by Assist Australia in partnership with the Automobile Clubs of Australia. Special conditions apply to accidents or breakdown in remote areas and the customer may be liable for costs when choosing to travel in these areas. · TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS: Campervans and Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed roads. 4WD Campers may also be driven on recognised unsealed roads and tracks, please check at time of booking. What is provided ? The operator's campervans are uniquely and specifically designed to the operator's standards. The campervan or motorhome comes complete with:
BRANCH LOCATION In Australia, the operator operates branches, for vehicle collection and return in: SYDNEY, MELBOURNE, BRISBANE, CAIRNS, ADELAIDE, DARWIN, ALICE SPRINGS, PERTH & BROOME. Vehicle check-out and return on Saturday afternoon, Sunday or Public Holidays (excluding Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday when all branches are closed) may be available but must be arranged with the operator reservations office at the time of making the booking. Where a specific time has been pre-arranged, the Branch will remain open for 1 hour from the time instructed for collection only; an extra charge may apply for service outside this time. Please note it is important we receive flight arrival or contact details and the number of passengers travelling prior to the date of collection, especially if there is a change to collection times. Our branches often check fight arrival times if a client is late for a rental collection, so providing flight details is a must. Additional Charges Other charges are payable directly by the customer on pick-up and can include: · ONE-WAY RENTALS IN AUSTRALIA: One way rentals are available between Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. A fee of $230 is charged for each one-way rental. No oneway fee applies to rentals of 21 days or longer when daily rates are used. With multiple rentals each separate section of the rental must be 21 days or longer to waive the one-way fee. The 21-day waiver of the one-way fee does not apply to SmartRates. The operator reserves the right to decline any rental when we believe the journey cannot be completed safely in the requested time period, particularly as our minimum rental is 5 days. · BROOME SURCHARGE: A remote surcharge of A$420 applies to any rental starting and/or finishing in Broome. This is in addition to any applicable one-way fee. · BASIC insurance is included in the daily rental rate. · ACCIDENT EXCESS REDUCTION options will be presented to the client on collection of the vehicle, unless an all inclusive package has been purchased. The options will be explained to the customer on arrival to help them make a suitable choice should they choose to upgrade from the insurance originally confirmed at the time of booking. · L.P. GAS SERVICE CHARGE of $20 or $30 is payable on collection of the vehicle. The customer is then not required to refill the LPG supply on return. · AUSTRALIAN TAXES: All rates and charges include Goods and Services Tax (GST). A charge of 2% of the total rental cost will be collected on pick-up to cover state government taxes, duties and any associated costs. · NO-SHOW: If the renter does not arrive to collect the vehicle on the day expected the renter is responsible for the cost of unused days. ACCIDENT EXCESS REDUCTION (AER) OPTIONS The operator rates include a basic accident excess reduction (AER). However, an A$5,000 excess applies to each and every accident or incident of damage. This applies to ALL damage, including windscreens and tyres. BOND: The renter must lodge a credit card authorisation with the credit card company to the value of the maximum excess applicable to the insurance cover chosen. These are: No optional cover taken A$5,000 Standard Protection Cover taken A$2,500 Premium Protection Cover taken A$220 CASH BONDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED unless prior arrangements are made at the time of making the reservation. The customer must complete a cash renter form at least 14 days prior to rental (to allow time to check the details provided) and special conditions apply. We offer the customer a choice of two optional excess reduction : Premium Excess Reduction (PER) For the customer who wants the maximum protection available, choosing PER reduces the excess from A$5,000 to only A$220 for each accident or incident of damage. PER also covers remote area towing costs, damage to tyres and windscreens with no excess (excepting damage caused by the negligence of the renter, which always remains the renter's responsibility). Or: Standard Excess Reduction (SER) With this option, the A$5,000 excess is reduced to A$2,500 for each accident or incident of damage, regardless of whether another vehicle was involved or not. These excesses also apply to tyre and/or windscreen damage. Facts the customer should be aware of regarding excess reduction: · The renter will be offered a choice of optional SER or PER on arrival at the branch. The benefits of the each option will be explained and the customer will make a choice and pay the cost of any cover chosen at that time. · For rentals over 50 days, the maximum charge for either insurance package option will be limited to the cost of 50 days, with all extra days being free of insurance charges. · The renter must offer a major credit card on arrival. Authorisation for the maximum amount of the insurance excess applicable to the chosen insurance package option (A$5,000, A$2,500 or A$220) is obtained from the credit card company. While no actual transfer of funds takes place, the customer should understand that the amount authorised is effectively "frozen" during the period of the rental. This has the effect of reducing the customer's available credit. On safe return, any extra costs are calculated and the new amount (if any) is then processed. We accept American Express, Diners, MasterCard, Visa or Bankcard. · The operator accepts no responsibility for currency fluctuations that may result in a loss or gain to the customer as a result of any credit card transaction. · Insurance excesses apply to each and every incident of damage separately. For example, if a customer has three accidents during the rental, then three excesses will apply. · Any damage to the campervan or motorhome caused through immersion in water or driving through water ALWAYS remains the renter's responsibility. No insurance protection is available for water damage. · No insurance protection is available for 2 wheel drive vehicles on unsealed roads. |
